Today when I went into my personal tally of courses, I found that today is the anniversary of the day I took my very first FEMA #independentstudy course: IS-100, Intro to the Incident Command System.
Oh, cool: finished G205 Recovery From Disaster: The Local Role yesterday; today, updating my personal roster of courses taken, found it's the anniversary of the 1st FEMA #independentstudy I ever took: IS-100, Intro to ICS.
Both posts are sort of a counterpoint to what I've been hearing about in the FEMA classes I've been taking, both #independentstudy & state level: the idea that professional #emergencymanagers don't want ppl "self deploying," essentially getting in the way.

CeceliaWhen I was in school (independent study program—I did my lessons at home, then met with my teacher once a week), I used to do all nighters to finish up all my lessons (I’d read them all earlier in the week—that part was easy for me).
After meeting with my teacher in my sleep deprived state, I had the most euphoric return home.
I’m sleep deprived now and am experiencing a state of happiness I haven’t felt in a long while. My brain function is inhibited enough that I’m not super stressed about everything else that’s wrong. It’s almost nice (but I’m still sleepy).
