One of the few films set in a #pandemic released during the pandemic, this indie thriller tells the tale of a scientist, Martin, led by a ranger, Alma, deep into the woods in search of an isolated researcher.
Happily, the #film shies away from the usual lost and confused forest stupidity, and instead focuses on the strange fanaticism to make sense of natural systems and chaos.
The visuals are lush, the story is mindbending, and the violence is surprisingly personal. 👍
So for the ending, I think Alma was able to make contact with the forest-being through the mist and was changed, perhaps she gained some special knowledge of the land. The dazed look she had seemed like it was from a hightened awareness, whereas Olivia was overwhelmed and collapsed.

I love the ending sequence. It's like a trippy, nature version of journey through the monolith in 2001: A Space Odyssey. 😵💫
