We have an extreme lack of evidence, from centuries of American history, of former presidents being prosecuted for acts while in office, from George Washington to Lyndon Johnson and then from Gerald Ford to Barack Obama. Even Richard Nixon, the lone exception, was spared prosecution by way of a presidential pardon. Yet in spite of a total lack of evidence, Supreme Court conservative justices run at the mouth about nonexistent peril to future presidents, while looking for an excuse to unconstitutionally legislate Donald Trump out of harms way. This is disgraceful and it is one hundred percent un-American.
This is the historic example that comes first to my mind. Harry S. Truman authorized the first explosion of a nuclear device, to be conducted on American soil, July 16, 1945, as a test. Truman nuked an American state. Many people in New Mexico have thought this put their health and even their lives in peril. Probably not much of anyone wonders why. Harry Truman was not prosecuted for it. As far as I am aware, no one even seriously considered it.
US Supreme Court justices are building up a mountain of perfectly ridiculous what-ifs, so they can do their fellow Republican a huge, totally unlawful favor.
