This is completely fucked up. Trump admin is closing ALL regional national forest service offices, and the 54 research stations will be consolidated in Colorado. Public lands will suffer. The regional office employees pickup trash and maintain campgrounds, keep trails open. Have really great topo trail maps for a few bucks. In bear country you can often rent bear canisters at the office. Knowledgeable staff who will tell you if campgrounds are open. Some also have wildland firefighting crews.
