Well, I didn't have anywhere to go on Thanksgiving, so I wrote a blog post about the roving mud spring of Salton Sea that has been eating railroads, roads and anything else in its path.
Someone here posted about it, so I had to go see it for myself when I was in the area a week ago. I have "a thing" for weird geology.

In 2015, in a nondescript piece of desert near Salton Sea in far SE California, a bubbling mud pot did something unprecedented: it started moving across the desert at a before-your-very-eyes pace, snacking on a railroad line, regional highway, oil pipelines and fiber optic cables that foolishly crossed its path.
