EDIT: I realize this probably seems like a dramatic way to word this, but it's honestly been about ten years at this point since I've worn anything other than heavy boots; even these are a step down from what I've normally worn over that time (they're the first I've had since I-don't-even-know-when that are soft-toed).  I don't even remember what it's like to wear normal shoes, and I've never tried anything like this.  I don't run, FWIW, so I really don't care if they suck to run in; I don't.  I'm 32, and my feet don't hurt, and a whole lot of things above my feet hurt.  If the barefoot shoe people are right, maybe that's the reason.  If those people are wrong, I go back to my boots and I'm back where I started.  Simple as that.

EDIT 2: and before someone may ask, no, actually; I've never had a job in which boots (never mind steel toes) are required, or even expected, and in all honesty I probably never will.  This has always just been my personal preference, for whatever reason.

Probably the next most extreme change I've ever considered after what operating system I use, honestly…

The picture attached is of my current boots.  I'm not planning on giving them up; if this little experiment fails, which it might, I'll go back to them.

Okay, so, I just ordered barefoot shoes: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09ZPYBB27/
