We do want statehood for American citizens who want statehood in the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and everywhere else the American flag currently flies — so long as the citizens who live there want it. Perhaps before we look beyond our current borders, we should ask all of those people within our borders if they want statehood. Hint: most of those people would vote Democrat. Republicans would never allow that. Double hint: should Greenlanders, Cubans, and Venezuelans be forcibly brought under the American flag, they would likely vote Democrat. Imagine all those Democratic Senators negating the votes of Republicans from Kansas, Texas, Alabama, Mississippi, etc. I wonder if Republicans think that far ahead? I wonder if they think at all.

The biggest complaint I heard in the last two years of his presidency was, “He didn’t do anything.” I called bullshit on that argument then, and I call it now. He actually did a lot, but the oligarchic press ignored everything he did. I wish articles like this had been front page news in 2024.
