Reading #IanPenman 's book on #ErikSatie in the smart, austere Fitzcarraldo Editions. Got me looking out Max Paddison's 1981 translation of "Memoirs of an Amnesiac": typescript in a highly-coloured cover which time has rendered strange by light fading.

Today I'm faced with what feels like an impossible task: writing about a stunning book which will be one of my reads of the year and which resonates with me powerfully on a personal level.
