Learned from a great #IGGC2023 presentation by Ingeborg Carpenter that German wedding dresses used to be black until the early 1900s. Looking at the photo album confirms it, as only a few brides from that era are wearing white.

18th century German migrants to America were usually Lutheran, while those towards Hungary were Catholic, because those were the conditions of the rulers of said countries.

I learned this yesterday from the great Friedrich R. Wollmershäuser in one of his presentations at #IGGC2023. He also offers his services as a professional genealogist specialized in Jewish #genealogy as well as genealogy before the availability of church books (just saying ...)

Saw a presentation about the book series "German Immigrants in American Church Records" ( #GIACR ) at #IGGC2023 and I keep obsessing what a cool source it would be to be used for finding immigrant origins at #WikiTree. Does anyone have experience or even own one or more volumes?

Listened to another session from #IGGC2023 while having breakfast. I'm pretty happy with my conference strategy of only visiting very collaborative/ interactive sessions live and watching the rest later - with 1.25x or 1.5x speed

Had a nice weekend watching sessions at the #IGGC2023 from home. Met a lot of nice people and was able to help a few of them, but still all I can remember are two people, who seemed annoyed or upset with me during the last session. Guess I have to work on my filter mechanisms ...
