This weekend is the #ICAI2026, a major academic integrity conference. I’m talking about AI agents in research, but they’ve been in the news this past week as universities have discovered how students can use them to cheat inside services like Canvas. This functionality isn’t new though and has been around for at least two years for those in the new. The continual dilemma of how to balance the need to teach legitimate use, and how to ensure students learn, remains.
