It seems to work fine. It's meant to run on 10 (TEN!!) C batteries, for a total of 15v. Its wall wart is a 12v one, so I think the higher voltage on batteries is meant to account for the internal resistance. I used 3 18650 lithium batteries, so the voltage when full charged is lower than 10 full charged alkalines, and with the batteries almost empty should be about the same. Lithium batteries also have a lower internal resistance, so I believe it will be fine.
