#TheCure Songs of a Lost World the movie was as delightful as I had hoped. 2 hours and 47 minutes from start to finish, with no ads or previews.
Refreshing!
There were many more different camera angles than for the live stream of the show on 1 November 2024, and it seemed like a lot of the in-between song dialogue was not there? Unless I imagined it?
It was lovely to see new close-ups and other angles that I had not seen watching it live at home on a small screen.
I think my friend who went with me had fun, though they didn't understand why they didn't know the songs in the first part of the show. I said, that's the new album that just came out last year, and then recommended that they listen to that album on headphones.
There were maybe 24 to 32 people in the theater. That was surprising to me! I think because of the low booking number we got stuck in one of the smaller auditoriums at the theater, and it had the most uncomfortable seats I have sat in at a theater for over a decade.
Also, though the theater touted Dolby sound, the sound was not immersive. It was like their worst theater in the entire 30-theater complex.
This is why no big bands ever come to Kansas City anymore! If fewer than 30 people showed up for this movie on a Sunday afternoon matinee, one of only a handful of showings that are even being played here? Kansas City just is not a music draw anymore.
Someone at the start of the show yelled, "I don't mind if anybody sings along!" so, I did sing along, subvocally, to almost every song. (In my N95 mask!)
I monitored CO2 during the movie and it up to 1500, which does make me drowsy, but that cleared very easily once we left the building.
Every single one of us in the audience was over 40. ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Now my modest savings goal for my own personal vacation-type thing next year is going to be saving up enough money to get a ticket and transportation (and a place to stay) for their live tour.
It they make it to Denver, as long ad the weather was okay, that would be the cheapest overall for me. I'd very likely have a place to stay and I'd be able to drive out.
If they play Chicago, that's my second choice, because I could take the train up.
I am hoping that the band's strict commitment to not tolerating tickets scalping is going to keep the cost of their tickets down. I would hate to hear that presale tickets were almost $1000 (like I did for Rush). ๐
