With Downbelow Station,#Cherryh drops us right in the midst of her universe at the moment everything changes.

I don’t even think that I did more than scan the fine type preamble, but the from the moment Signy Mallory’s Norway jumps in-system and drops her outriders, the action barrels forward.

One thing she has in common with Star Trek is that she’s not shy to describe competence where it exists. It’s refreshing looking at it from the more recent obsession with showing dysfunctional organizations.
