I had the chance to see the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, led by Conductor Monica Chen, perform four suites of Joe Hisaishi's music for Studio Ghibli. It was so much fun, and the music, of course, was brilliant. I grabbed a photo before the show. The Totoro seated behind the conductor's platform belongs to the conductor's family. She also dressed up as Kiki, complete with broom! Loved it!

One of my fav podcasts was analyzing Howl’s Moving Castle (book), and I had a big “huh?”

So much of their analyses across episodes has been interesting and I see where they are coming from.

But then they said Sophie and Howl were horrific people to be around. The lack of direct communication, the mischief, the dwelling on victimhood.

The podcasters still love them as characters to be clear.

To me, that stuff just made them seem real.
