BNO News

When I've accidentally housed males and females together in the past it hasn't taken long for the females to tear chunks out of the males ears and leave bite marks on their tails.
The 2 brothers haven't fought anything like that. Just wingy squeaks when one decides the other's pumpkin seed looks tastier.
Their behaviour reminds me more of pet rats, than what I've been told about pet mice (I've only had one male and much later 3 females).

I figured out my problem with fighting in the large cage, 2 of the 8 babies in there were boys.
I've managed to get them all out of the big cage, separated the boys and now I can give the stinky cage a good scrub.
Male wild mice are way more messy and stinky than fancy mice.

I've plugged every mouse sized gap in my home that I possibly can. My landlord recently removed a piece of plaster board in my living room, to access some pipes at the end of November. Shortly after I caught 15 young mice.
I'm hoping when they finally patch this up in March that the mouse invasion will end.

I use live catch mousetraps at home. Every 2-3 years (in the 7 years I've lived here) I get invaded by the year's new litter (around Jan-Apr). The 1st year this happened I caught over 20 mice and released most of them. I kept around 9 when the weather got bad, keeping the males and females separate.
