This summer I went on a hiking trip in Germany with my parents. In advance we tried to go on some hikes that weren't all flat, which really is not that easy in the Netherlands. On one of our hikes we walked from Lobith across the German border to the Eltenberg. On top of the hill, we visited the Drususbrunnen, a thousand year old well, and had pancakes at the pancake house. Even if the distance wasn't that far, somehow crossing a border always feels special.

The poem in the second photo is called "By bike" and could be translated as follows:
By bike you can
silently
reach the landscape.

Full of quiet admiration
you discover,
that you are standing still

and that you
pedalling
are moving the earth.
