Finished my rewatch of Yuyushiki, and I had forgotten how much I liked that series. Between the random humor, which was often word-based, and the fun dynamic of the main trio, Yuyushiki is surely one of my top-tier CGDCT picks. I only wish it were twice as long.
I also finished up HIGHSPEED Étoile. As a motorsport fan, I thoroughly enjoyed it, even with some of the creative liberties they took with the world of high-tech auto racing. All of the real elements they did lift from motorsport drew me into the series, and it was fun to watch the races in the show, even if the character and story development were lacking. I was happy to learn that there is more of this series coming in the future, too!
The best part of the episode of HIGHSPEED Étoile that I watched today was hearing the onboard computer of the main character's car say "mufufufu".
I can tell that HIGHSPEED Étoile is a work of fiction because the NEXRACE event at Monaco had side by side racing and overtaking.
Two things which rarely happen in F1 races at that track.
Surprised at how much of my Formula One knowledge is applicable to HIGHSPEED Étoile. The series uses lots of motorsport concepts and lingo which come from real-world auto racing.
It reminds me of when I watched Hanebado!, where my knowledge of badminton from following the BWF World Tour made it easy to follow, since the series uses the real rules and terminology of badminton in the show.
Time once again to pick two more anime series to watch.
First up, I'm in the mood for CGDCT again, so I'm going to rewatch Yuyushiki, where the theme is a girls' high school computer club. (Not to be confused with Magic of Stella, which is CGDCT about a girls' high school computer game developers club!) It's been a while since I watched Yuyushiki, so it'll be fun seeing it again.
Next will be something new. With the Formula One season now over for the year, I'm going to continue to get my speed fix by watching HIGHSPEED Étoile. I know nothing about the series except it's about girls who drive high powered race cars, and that works for me. If it's half as good as the third F1 Academy race at Abu Dhabi a couple of weeks ago was, I'll be happy!
