π§STATE ROUTE 96 UPDATE -- 8/18/2023π§
State Route 96 remains closed from Seiad Creek Bridge to 6.7 miles east of Scott River Road due to the #HeadFire, which is now part of the #HappyCampComplex. It is unknown at this time when the roadway will be reopened as it not only remains within a mandatory evacuation zone issued by the Siskiyou County Sheriffβs Office but there are also many imminent hazards along the roadway that need to be addressed.

3/3 No fire spread is expected outside the current perimeter until fuels dry with sunlight and receive significant winds. Air operations will be impacted by the potential thunderstorms in the forecast and by low visibility conditions most of the daytime operational period.

2/3 The fire will experience light northwest winds most of the shift, especially in drainage bottoms with heavy fuels. The fire is expected to have minimal fire spread and only react when influenced by a downdraft or strong winds. Interior islands and isolated concentrations of heavy dead and down will continue to consume and smolder.
