So, since #DEFCON is off the menu for the foreseeable future, what are the cool #HackerCons I can attend later this year that are in Europe?

I can speak English, French, and some very limited Spanish, but am very willing to learn others.

Folks wanting to come to Canada to attend some (assuming we aren't invaded by then), I recommend:

  • @NorthSec in Montreal in the springtime.
  • @hackfest in QuΓ©bec City in the fall.
  • BSides Ottawa in the fall.
  • I've heard very good things about BSides Vancouver, though I've never personally attended.

What an incredibly off-base perspective 🀯

1. Cons are for those that are 'serious' and are an excellent way to grow, learn, and gain both technical knowledge and interpersonal skills.

2. Cons are for the 'un-serious' too ~ they're a fantastic way to connect with the community! If you're not networking for career purposes, there's no harm in making friends along the way. 😊

3. Workshops and training frequently surpass at-home learning because the content creators and exam writers who don't attend cons often become disconnected from the needs of the industry and community.

4. Cons provide an excellent forum for discussions between groups of individuals, both small and large, who often aren't geographically able to meet IRL.

I owe my career to #hackercons and recommend them to anyone trying to find success in #infosec, #cybersecurity, and #hacking

You can thank #Infiltrate Conference in Miami for opening the way to highly technical red team cons in Europe: Offensive Con in Berlin, Hexacon in Paris
