Ende Februar kündigte Kapitän Kellet an, dass die von #HMSInvestigator geretteten Männer im April das Winterquartier der Rettungsschiffe #HMSResolute und #HMSIntrepid verlassen und nach #BeecheyIsland zur North Star wandern sollten - was #Miertsching sehr erleichterte, »denn wir waren des Wohnens auf diesen zwei Schiffen herzlich müde, und obgleich wir da eine 50 deutsche Meilen [ca. 375 km] lange Reise zu Fuß über Eis vor uns haben, so freuen wir uns auf den Tag unserer Abreise.«

What if this were maybe #HMSIntrepid (or one of the other ships which were abandoned with the search for the lost Franklin-Expedition)? For comparison: the abandoned ship #HMSResolute made it from Viscount Melville Sound into the Southern part of Baffin Bay (where is was found undamaged drifting) in only 2 years!
