I'm attending the #HELU webinar on pushing back against proposed restrictions on NIH indirect costs. I thought I couldn't get more distressed by this issue, but just learned that under the Trump administration, #NIH genetics grants with the term "segregation" are getting flagged, even though the grants are about a DNA process not racial discrimination. Bananas. Hope folks can make it to the Hands Off Our Healthcare Jobs rallies on 2/19! https://www.mobilize.us/workingfamilies/event/755266/
Hands Off our Healthcare, Research, and Jobs ACTION! · Working Families Party

Hands Off our Healthcare, Research, and Jobs! On Wednesday, February 19th, higher ed workers in UAW, AAUP, AFT, CWA, WFP and more will be holding a national day-of-action to fight back against the Trump administration's attempts to freeze federal research funding, severely cut NIH and NSF resources, and impose a debilitating cap on indirect costs on NIH grants. Workers at Philadelphia's many hospitals and research universities are in the crosshairs of this rightwing offensive. Penn, CHOP, Thomas Jefferson, Temple, and Drexel alone stand to lose over $300 million in federal grant funding from the NIH's proposed reduction of indirect cost rates to 15%. Philly higher ed workers will be holding an action on 2/19 to protest these egregious cuts that could cost thousands of jobs at some of our city's largest employers and destroy U.S. scientific research: What: Hands Off our Healthcare, Research, and Jobs! When: Wednesday 2/19 at 12pm Where: Outside Senator Dave McCormick's Philly office (2000 Market Street, Philadelphia PA) Who: Research, higher ed, and healthcare workers in UAW, AAUP, AFT, CWA, WFP and more!!

Watching the #HELU webinar between #JaneMcAlevey and #NelsonLichtenstein right now and Lichtenstein said 5 year contracts are a victory for management and while I've never heard it described like that before, it's painfully true. #unions
