There are two "statements" on https://fireshonks.de/, one from each of the organizing groups. They don't say a lot about what the reasons are, but the existence of two separate statements might be an indication.

All the best to the organizers. It probably hasn't been an easy decision.

@HackenOpenAir has announced a date for #HOA24. On July 09 to 13, 2024, we’ll have another cozy camping iteration at the Welfenhof near Gifhorn. Let’s see how many mosquitoes there are going to be this time.

And #FireShonks23 has been announced. Fully remote, December 27 to 30. No website for this year yet, but https://pads.haecksen.org/cDTL_m9bQBuxyFFKSUsWaw gives an overview.
