Today I learned about Marion Stokes, who got several VCRs and taped live television from 1977 until her death in 2012. For much of this time she kept multiple VCRs running 24/7. In total she collected around 71,000 tapes—hundreds of thousands of hours of video. Later she added collections of newspapers, magazines, and Mac computers.
