I have read notices online about the passing on Friday of Ernest 'Bilbo' Berger, the drummer for the 1970s funk band Heatwave, at age 73. And so I have been listening tonight to Heatwave's 1978 hit 'The Groove Line', which begins with a memorable cymbal roll and demonstrates Berger's talents as a percussionist.
