@JumblePublishing A lovely image & #GreatAltText - thank you!

@jendefer @kate Thanks for these examples of #GreatAltText & the intro to hashtag #JoyOfAltText!

Glad to have discovered both #AltText & photos @handmade_ghost ... 🙏

@SJLahey Thanks for the #GreatAltText; some of the line-fillers look so 3D that it is a delight to read how this has been achieved with white highlights - and I was so taken by the beautiful long-tailed parrot that I had failed to notice the woman below!
@SJLahey How wonderful! Thanks for #GreatAltText, & for drawing my attention to this manuscript: I see there's a catalogue entry & images of 4 other kings at https://www.joh.cam.ac.uk/library/special_collections/manuscripts/medieval_manuscripts/medman/A_7.htm

@holyramenempire Compliments with the hashtag #GreatAltText might be a first step to draw attention to interesting examples? @FreakyFwoof
@FreakyFwoof I'm sighted with a slow internet connection & rely on #AltText for all the images that never load. (#GreatAltText can also add to the appreciation of images I do see.)

@nspugh Thanks for the lovely tree portrait! & #GreatAltText, & intro to #Yggdrasil -

@meerlala Indeed! I wonder why the rich ceased to enjoy eating #eels in the #19thCentury - snobbery presumably?

& it is shocking how many foods then cheap enough for everyman have become #CriticallyEndangered.

🙏 @greenleejw for your fascinating insights into both history & ecological change - & your usual #GreatAltText!

European eel conservation | ZSL

European eels once thrived in London’s rivers but the number of young joining the adult populations has dropped dramatically since the 1980s.

@brusgaard I had the same question - & guessed quite wrongly about the location, fascinating!
I had looked first for explanatory #AltText. That's well worth adding on this site, expected as a courtesy to the many readers who can't see the images (due to impaired vision or slow internet). Many people will only boost posts which include AltText, & many of us look for additional explanation of interesting images. #GreatAltText can be an artform in itself! H/T @greenleejw
