“Bad (Badezimmer? Schlecht?)” / Bad or bathroom

A couple of years ago, some friends and I were walking around Governors Island, NY and wandered into a glamping site (“glamorous camping” if you’re unfamiliar). Even though we hadn’t made reservations we still got to enjoy some hot drinks from their restaurant tent, and I got to check out one of their tented private restrooms. Not quite “roughing it”!

On #ThisDayInHistory in 1624, the first load of #Dutch settlers arrived at #GovernorsIsland off Manhattan. They founded #NewAmsterdam, which tried to steer clear of Europe's religious conflicts to focus on trade with #indigenous Americans. Britain seized it in 1664, creating NYC.
