Sailors put out a call for help when their rudder broke off the French coast, in April. The 50 metre, three masted Gotheburg was the closest vessel and answered the call.

"The arrival of the Götheborg on the scene was rapid and surprising, as we did not expect to see a merchant ship from the East India Company of the XVIII century."
