If your fandom theory involves the season being “deliberately badly written” then you have lost me.

It is fine if you lose interest in a series because of the writing. Not everything is for everyone and that is alright.

If you don’t like cliffhangers, that is fine. They are not to everyone’s taste.(0)

However how is it in the best interests of the show that they “deliberately” write a “bad season” only to plan write a “good” season later on? What happens if the show is cancelled?

Surely it is better for the writers and audience investment, and therefore the health of the show, to ensure every episode is the best it can be?

[0] If Good Omens is cancelled after season two I am sure Neil Gaiman and co will find a way to get the rest of the story to us. At lot of Neil’s work has been turned into full audio dramas by Audible with David Tennant and Michael Sheen in their roles as Crowley and Aziraphale, and in this situation I would put money on this happening.
