This year for the first time my cane (Arundinaria) grew tall enough that (a) some of the stems are big enough to harvest for garden stakes and (b) one of my patches expanded into an area where I need to cut a little bit to preserve one of my garden paths. So this fall I'll be cutting some native bamboo garden stakes! (I'm actually kind of excited about that, because, apparently, I am a giant-grasses nerd AND an enormous tightwad.)
