Interstellar Visitor 3I/ATLAS Is Either an Extraterrestrial Spacecraft… or Something Much, Much Stranger

Interstellar visitor 3I-ATLAS has certainly outshone its cosmic predecessors in terms of strangeness, having racked up an impressive list of anomalous behaviors and features that make 2017’s ‘Oumuamua and 2019’s 2I/Borisov seem downright ordinary, illustrating that either what we don’t know about the universe runs much deeper than we assume, or that 3I/ATLAS may be an artificial object from an extraterrestrial civilization, as Galileo Project lead Avi Loeb speculates.

Speculation abounds. But if authorities had real evidence of 31-Atlas as an extraterrestrial spacecraft, would the public be told? I doubt it.

A few decades ago you’d not have expected to see this. At least here partisanship has taken a backseat to more typical science debate. Schermer has actually joined the #GalileoProject and the skeptic role has taken on more of a conservative philosophy of science flavor.

"If the measured velocity and acceleration of a technological object are outside the flight characteristics and performance envelopes of drones or airplanes, then the object would be classified by the #GalileoProject’s research team as an outlier. In such a case, it would be interesting to calculate the minimum mass density of the object. If the result exceeds normal solid densities, then the object would qualify as anomalous, a #UAP."
