I'm lying here in bed getting cuddles and kind of want to reflect on my weekend at #Furggedaboutit2025...

So I think first of all, and something worth really emphasizing, was that #GSFTW was a litmus test for the #furry community and especially the #furry community in the US right now.

It asked us collectively if we were up to the task of tolerating our community spaces being eroded away and taken over by fascists and hate groups who want to see our most vulnerable parts of our community suffer or if we would take a stand and stamp out problematic aspects of our community. Tolerance vs Intolerance.

I'm proud to say that this community understood the assignment. #GSFTW was held accountable by the community and the collective action to make a safe space in the wake of the dereliction of responsibility we place in #furcons to be a safe space was accomplished through #furgeddaboutit.

These are interesting times and the only way we will survive them is through strong, resilient communities.

Oh man, #gsftw is absolutely dead. The chats have been locked. The situation is still on-going and developing but woof.. TL;DR GSFTW staff was associating themselves furry raiders and the like, and then when confronted about it refused to actually address it

The whole controversy behind #GSFTW is wild. I didn't think in the Year of our Lord 2024 we have to debate about whether or not Nazis deserve to be in our (fur) communities.

I guess we'll just wait and see what happens.

Alas, the e-paper badge didn't survive #GSFTW ... it had been a little flaky at the end of #TFF ; it stopped working twice, and I had to fiddle with/reconnect the flex connector to get it working again. By Saturday night of GSFTW, it quit updating, and no amount of fiddling revived it.

I suspect the flex cable is damaged, although I'm not sure I have a good way of checking it. I'd like to connect the display to the known-good driver board from Waveshare, but I can't figure out how to unlock the flex connector on that board.

In any case, I know I need some sort of enclosure for the badge, so the cable/electronics aren't rubbing on my shirt as I walk around. And I have plans for a rev 2 :)

Had a great time at #GSFTW ! This was the con's first year, but the staff has experience running other cons, and they did a great job! I heard attendance was over 950, which is a lot for a first-year con. Glad that New Jersey has a furry con again; it sounds like there's been a lot of demand since FA:U left NJ.

And @leaf was one of the GoHs there. He was my very first furry friend; we first met (online) about 30 years ago! After hearing that he was invited to be a GoH, I had to go help celebrate :) Plus, it had been ages since we last saw each other in person.

Got home from #gsftw last night and woo that was so much fun! Nearly broke 1k people for the first year! I was a little nervous about this con since there was talk of furry raider association but I didn't get any weird vibes from the con and I had a pretty great time

Home from #GSFTW, it was absolutely incredible for a first-time con. Blew pretty much 90% of my experiences with the previous NJ con out of the water.

Going again next year and will probably try to volunteer or join staff!

But for now… there’s another trip to plan for! I’m gonna need some of those stickers I bought yesterday.
