“You really have been tracking me, huh?” “Cris dusted your clothing with bugs.” “For fuck’s sake.”

Um. No. No serious archaeologist would have only such an eclectic collection of mostly fiction historical books in their office - there's not even a research topic discernable from them! They'd have textbooks, monographs, and maps, and maybe printouts of research articles.

But well, he's a "Doggerland is Atlantis" person, so no serious academic, eh.

Okay. So they weren't ever married, he just said they were. And they didn't really separate; he just deployed to the Hopeless Battle for Earth without telling her.

And she's angry! She still has feelings! She's ten years younger than him and comes across as a bit simple despite having an impressive degree!

Yikes. I'm contemplating to not finish, although this* review makes it sound so good!

Review: Future's Edge by Gareth Powell

At its heart, this standalone space opera epic is the story of three people coming to terms with each other Of all the Gin joints for him to...

"He swivelled on his barstool, and I caught my breath. I’d forgotten how striking he was, in a hard, square-jawed kind of way. A dancer’s body with a sword-fighter’s poise."

As much as I like the gender inversion here (Ursula's body hasn't been described at all yet) - yikes. I hate that "divorced couple still finds each other hot" trope. I hope these two stay divorced for a change.

New book: "Future's Edge" by Gareth Powell. Post-apocalyptic xenoarchaeology and ex-spouses working together. I usually like the first but not the second thing; we'll see.
