For the youths of today:

#Funsterization was what ITV did to the dialogue of Lethal Weapon in the 1990s.

What #Channel5 has done to #CrocodileDundee 2 is only new to me. The last time that I saw the movie on the telly, it had all of this stuff in. It's not actually a new development for broadcast #UKTelly.

For on-point comparison, given 'funster', Steve Martin's infamous rant at the car hire person, in the broadcast of #PlanesTrainsAndAutomobiles of a week ago, was shown uncut.

The version of #CrocodileDundee 2 that #Channel5 shows comes with a content warning about images and voices of dead people. That's new.

It has also been heavily funsterized.

The knife scenes with the DEA agent and the gang member's hair are almost entirely eliminated. Dundee's knife is eliminated from the subway scene so the criminal suddenly says "Now that's a knife!" to apparently nothing at all. The rope interrogation scene is shortened, too.

Also excised is the homosexuality reference with the man on the side of the building. But apparently the *rest* of that scene's subject matter is not beyond the pale as homosexuality apparently is.

I don't know what else has been cut. I stopped watching before the building infiltration. I'll find an old non-funsterized version and try to remember for the future that the U.K. telly version has since been shredded, and lacks many of the details that I originally found memorable about the movie.
