My wife cried last night to see Benito (aka Bad Bunny) holding the PR flag during the halftime show. Less than a century ago, flying the PR flag or singing the PR National Anthem could have gotten you arrested.
Bad Bunny’s symbolism during the performance was outstanding! From the sugar cane colonial plantation to the electric power line scene (a nod to the colonialist, private power company, LUMA) Benito once again delivers strong for Borikén!
In case you missed it: the Puerto Rico Independence Party just submitted a proposal in the senate to rescue the electric grid from private hands, namely LUMA Energy and Genera PR.

Well, it WAS a relaxing family weekend until this happens outside my house (not my house in the picture)
We’ve had about two weeks of rain which makes the ground soft. Also, wood isn’t the best material in warm wet weather. So “an ounce of caution is worth a pound of pain” however that goes.

So we *have* a power grid, and we'll be paying for it for the remainder of my natural life and yours, but it can't do things like, you know, keep the airport running, or the hospitals.
I understand that keeping the power on up here in Adjuntas is fraught with risk; I grew up in the country, so power outages are nothing new to me. But in town? In town a functioning society is supposed to be able to keep the lights on.

The hearing that began Monday in federal court will focus on a proposed debt-restructuring plan and comes nearly seven years after Puerto Rico’s government filed for the biggest bankruptcy in U.S. municipal history. Scores of protesters gathered outside the courthouse ahead of the hearing, decrying that already high power bills would increase again if the plan is approved, leading to an even higher cost of living on the U.S. territory.
