“Get” Sopon has now been in Prison for 2 years for convictions under 112 (Lèse-majesté) Charges. He still has ongoing cases as well which could add even more years onto his already lengthily sentences.

On Lese Majesty laws in Thailand, it's being used well beyond how it is written.

112 states that it protects the King, Queen, Heir Apparent & Regent but there at least 5 cases where mentioning the “monarchy” has resulted in imprisonment & many more cases in progress.

This is relevant today as Thaksin Shinawatra was cleared today of lese majeste due to the court using the narrow interpretation of the law...

But that same interpretation has not been used in many other cases against those who don't have his power, influence, resources or connections.

This morning two Thai 2 lese majeste defendants, Tawan & Bam, announced they are voluntarily withdrawing their bail & returning to prison to await trial.
They are doing this in protest of what they see as the injustice of the Thai system.

They choose to fight from inside prison. The Thai justice process is never fair. Supporters of the Thai dictatorship commit crimes and receive little punishment. But these youths received heavy penalties for resisting dictatorship

They have 3 demands

1.Reform the justice system

2.End the prosecution of those who come out to fight in politics

3.Political parties must pay more attention to the issue of civil liberties. For example, Article 112 of the Criminal Code silences people who criticize the Thai monarchy
