Masons use many means to raise money for those in need. For some American Lodges, there is a special group called the Turtles, joined by answering satirical questions which require a very open mind. The turtle is immortalised in the Song of Solomon:
"...the winter is past, and the flowers appear on the earth, and the time of the singing birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in the land "

The fourteenth Landmark.
The right of every Freemason to visit and sit in every regular Lodge is an unquestionable Landmark of the Order. This is called the Right of Visitation. This right of visitation has always been recognised as an inherent right which inures to every Freemason as he travels through the world. And this is because Lodges are justly considered as only divisions for convenience of the universal Masonic family.
A simple explanation of the three Masonic Degrees taken from the Ancient Mysteries:
The spring: during which ploughing and planting occur, for the Entered Apprentice.
The summer: the growth and care of what has been planted, for the Fellow Craft.
The autumn: the gathering and storage of the harvest, for the Master Mason.
Youth, Manhood, and Age. Strength, Beauty, and Wisdom.
Members of the Illuminati (a short-lived Masonic fraternity in Germany during the late eighteenth century) were given a new, secret name. This was based on the Egyptian custom of giving a true name, and a good name.
The good (or little) name was made public while the true (or big) name remained a secret only shared with selected fellow initiates. Abyssinian Christians followed the same tradition, two names being given at baptism
