All of us are alchemists
a formula of happiness we look for
not in sulfur, mercury
or stinky glowing phosphor
A spoonful of self-care, a sprinkle
of sports, for dissolving the blues
a few drops of friendship, and perhaps
a spatula of nature to fortify the brew
"I suffered in your age
and so should you"
They might say, with a prideful tone
as if nothing under the sun is new
But the active ingredient
would not be suffering
What makes us stronger
is the act of learning
Though bonds formed
and hardship pulverized
We study, we live
Only in love we thrive
The cusp of weathers
Curls around the centre of
These days, turns calm
Into a storm of consequences
We feel for what is left
Of our lives.
We should have formulated
A plan when we had
The energy, of what to do
When that energy failed us,
Should have prepared
For these dying days
When the open skies are
Obscured by more
Than the clouds of age.
How many more eclipses,
Books, coffees, wild guesses,
And Saturdays are there?
they will cogitate
ruminate and formulate
while we peons wait
