@Survival_Is_Insufficient there are independent autonomous 'social centrels' such as the #SumacCentre" in the #ForestFields neighbourhood in #Nottingham. Run by volunteers with no dependence on statutory funding, they often have cheap meeting space, community meals, fundraising gigs and resources for campaign groups.
Look for Social Centres Network and Climate Emergency Centres network.
