Morning walk & birdwatch @ Fishlake Meadows, peak warbler season with whitethroat, garden & sedge warblers all in full throat. A hobby perched motionless in a dead poplar. The reed beds golden with yellow flag iris. Bees buzzing in the hawthorn & comfrey
Quick visit to #FishlakeMeadows in Romsey after work tonight, lots of singing warblers & 2 very active cuckoos calling & flying around. Large flock of screeching swifts hawking over the open water but no sign of osprey or hobby. Vegetation looking lush, air heavy with the scent of #hawthorn blossom

Heavy rains over the weekend have flooded this path through Fishlake Meadows nature reserve. Increased level of birdsong even during the day, with chiffchaffs & wrens singing every few yards. Buzzards mewing & displaying overhead. Water rails screeching from the reed beds.
