Haifaa Al-Mansour, who made 'Wadjda' in Saudi Arabia is another. A female film director in a country where women couldn't even drive. For outdoor scenes, She had to direct hidden inside a van.

No idea what the Somali TV series is like, but Wadjda's a lovely film.
