@ami_angelwings The only time travel #FavCharacterQ I can think of is the titular Q from Star Trek. Not a terrible choice. ("Picard" season two wasn't that bad, truly.)

If I weren't fixated on the time travel, I might pick Quinn Mallory from Sliders. There was a show with potential, until the executive meddling. #FavCharacterAtoZ

I've been waiting on Q for #FavCharacterAtoZ for a moment. My #FavCharacterQ is Quantum from Quantum and Woody a comic that does a lot different. Quantum is an honest, smart, hardworking black man. Who with his estranged white foster brother, Woody, investigates their father's death. Both are given energy powers from a device in their father's lab, but are forced together or self-destruct.

@ami_angelwings For #FavCharacterQ I'm going with actual Q.

No, not the Trek one. The Bond one. I grew up watching Desmond Llewelyn ham it up for a scene or two every few years, playing off of whichever suave stylish fellow was doing the Bond gig at the time. Seems like there are worse ways to earn a steady paycheck, and he seemed to be having a fun time.

Shame his final outing was as part of the execrable The World Is Not Enough, but oh well.

@ami_angelwings For Q, it's obviously the recurring Star Trek character (appearing in the very first and last episodes of the show) who was a constant annoyance to the crew and captain of the show. However, he had his own strong set of rules and could eventually be relied upon to do the right thing, growing to respect humans. His dubious charms even got him close to Picard's former lover.

Yes, it's Quark.

So while everybody is trolling or cheating at "Q", I've had my #FavCharacterQ picked out for a while now, & it's not Q.

It's Quan from Kizuna no Allele, the show nobody but me & 2 others watched. Quan is the most realistic depiction of a too online trans girl trying to find herself: a quiet self-hating "boy" irl who uses a genderless blob avatar in VR & eventually her egg cracks hanging around accepting cute girls & she dramatically comes out as a girl (with song & everything).

But b/c she's so used to holding in her feelings & not communicating until it explodes out, she ends up feeling insecure, quits the server chat/band & dumps everything on Miracle all at once. Then she ends up in a polycule with Miracle & a girl who may or may not be a computer.

So authentic.

@ami_angelwings Captain (Copernicus Leslie) Qwark. Qwark starts the series as a gag and it would've been fine if he stayed that way, but he becomes such a reliable fixture of the series that he's the only character to follow through on his themes of vanity and insecurity. The entire Ratchet and Clank universe sometimes does revolve all around Qwark, which explains a lot. It's a goofy, cynical place...that has the potential to be more.

Favorite fictional character whose name begins with "Q"?

Quentin Coldwater, THE MAGICIANS, by Lev Grossman.

He's a college-aged student, classic ADHD/Depression/Anxiety. High achiever, all the national math competitions and such. Waiting for something magical and meaningful to happen that'll make his life exciting, like in his favorite book, FILLORY AND FURTHER (a very obvious Narnia expy. And he's kind of a self-centered asshole.

I hate it, but
I was that kid. Hoping for something to finally take me away from my boring bullshit, and give me the glorious magical life I always deserved.

Anyway, highly worth the read, even if you don't end up connecting to the character the way I did (it's okay, so many folks just think the entire cast is assholes, and they're not wrong).

Fun fact: I named my second son Quentin because of this book!

@ami_angelwings

The titular Queen Bee from Golgo 13: Queen Bee. Some of the themes involving her character are a bit ick, but she's a rare example of femme badass in a ultra-masculine property that gets to be genuinely comparable to the boys and a complete character arc.

@ami_angelwings The eponymous monster from _Q: The Winged Serpent_. “Eat ’em! Eat ’em!” #FavCharacterAtoZ #FavCharacterQ

@ami_angelwings There's not really a lot to pull from so I'm kind of taking a called shot here, but Qifrey from Witch Hat Atelier has been an absolute joy to watch and he's probably just my #FavCharacterQ by default?

That aside, there's a level of complexity of motivation to qifrey that makes him extremely interesting as a character and he's also just a lot of fun, there's a mischievous quality to him that grounds him as a witch that's constantly seeking knowledge, and a kindness that justifies his position as a teacher and operator of an atelier, but there's a mystery to him in a way that's equally grounded in those tenants of his personality that make him a really complex agent in the world

When this season of the show ends I'm def reading the manga, in no small part because of him
