A substantial portion of university teaching is done not by tenured professors but by contract instructors. Here at #UAlberta in Edmonton, about half of undergrad courses are taught by contract instructors like me.

We have similar credentials to tenured professors, but usually have lower pay, less job security, and worse benefits.
