If you are an academic at the University of Alberta, please get involved!
Academic unions protect academic workers and, by extension, higher education, students' learning, and publicly-funded research.
These are valuable sources of knowledge and skills that aren't (yet) beholden to political whims and social fads.

I'm here for better job security for contract academics, and to show that we're all in this together - from the tenured profs to the sessional instructors to the folks who maintain the grounds.
A substantial portion of university teaching is done not by tenured professors but by contract instructors. Here at #UAlberta in Edmonton, about half of undergrad courses are taught by contract instructors like me.
We have similar credentials to tenured professors, but usually have lower pay, less job security, and worse benefits.
