Paul SchoeI disagree. I think that because news focuses more on disasters than on progress, most people have a more negative view about the status of the world than the statistics warrant.
In their book #Factfuless, the #Rosling family wants to show that. They are purposely cherry-picking because cherries is what the book is about.
They show the centuries-long reduction of war deaths, but they do not show (as far as I remember) the number of deaths in Sudan. The book is focused on the good.
