I don't ever remember having specific "sets" of these, just a giant pile of random pieces, so me and my cousins would build whatever the heck we felt like.
I feel like that had an impact on my current feelings about TTRPGs. Give me a basic toolkit and the freedom to bolt on whatever I feel like.
