Hi-Fructose has an excellent article on the art of Eyvind Earle. Eyvind is most well-known as the background artist for many of the classic Disney animated movies, especially Sleeping Beauty. The restored Alice In Wonderland is terrific! Beautiful, hand-drawn animation: the fantasy sequence with the playing card soldiers is iconic.

With Eyvind Earle's midcentury style and color inspiration from the incomparable Mary Blair, 1959's Sleeping Beauty is worth watching over and over.
