Building on earlier steps in Valencia, #KingPhilipIII's #ExpulsionOfTheMoriscos was generalized to all of Spain on #ThisDayInHistory in 1609. Up to 5% of the population was driven out, and up to 30% in some areas. Many #Moriscos managed to evade this and their descendants remain.
