This week (last week) I organised car sharing to caving, saving a few vehicle-miles.

This week (last week) I talked to some neighbours about a planning application they’re putting in, trying to help them reduce the solar gain on their extension (through adding passive external shading) before building it and finding it’s too hot.

Always potentially sensitive to talk to people about planning applications, but it was a good chat in the end.

This week (last week) I collected several hundred grams of plastic litter from some high moorlands before it degraded into the peat. Highlights were 3 foil/plastic helium balloons, which should just be banned completely. They’re always going to end up as litter.

This week I used reclaimed/seconds shower panels for a project rather than buying new. Saved waste, and gave just as good a result as I could cut the damaged bits off.

This week (last week) I car shared to another walking event.

This week I travelled to a walking event by train instead of driving. The event was handily set up so the start time was a bit after when the first train arrived, thankfully!

This week I installed insulation in a drying room for my caving club. Work isn’t finished, but this should make the room much more energy efficient in future. #EnvironmentThisWeek #caving
This week (last week) I decided to replace a knackered fence with a hedge. More hedge means more insects and birds. #EnvironmentThisWeek

This week I redistributed some left over building materials from a few projects, to avoid them going to waste.

This week I did some more car sharing and blocked up some draughts in a building I help maintain, to reduce its heating bills.
