The Job Analog Devices is seeking a software engineer with a background in embedded software in order to help us bring our software products closer to our customers. We are looking for someone to join the Cabin Software Customer Experience team. Creating showcase demos that bring together all our software products and associated hardware, engaging with customers to understand their product roadmaps and future needs, working with our software and hardware development teams to define our future innovation, and producing exciting media and collateral to educate our customers. We are looking for an engineer who has experience in the full product lifecycle, and who likes to create innovative content and engage with customers. The team's primary focus is on supporting our connected DSP processors (ARM Cortex-A and SHARC processors) and A2B bus products. We take the software tools and algorithms provided by our product teams and work to build a cohesive ecosystem around them. The majority of our end products are audio systems in vehicles and home consumer products. We are typically working on processors that will not be in products for another 2-5 years, and always with an eye to the long-term future trends. We are looking for a flexible, independent senior engineer who has experience in the full product lifecycle, from product conception, through design and development to release and maintenance. The role is located in our Edinburgh office, but we will consider strong candidates at remote locations. The office is located centrally with good travel links and comes with unlimited good coffee and table tennis. Key Responsibilities Developing embedded demo applications that showcase our hardware and software products Engaging with Tier1 customers to help them understand our products and to help us understand the customer needs Produce professional documentation, training material and media to help customers leverage our products Prototype system-level tools to rapidly solve real-world problems Work with the marketing and hardware teams to help define the next generation of processors. What We Are Looking For We are looking to encourage a broad range of candidates for this role. You may not have a complete match for the requirements below. If you feel you are a great software engineer with strong embedded skills, don't be put off! Bsc Hons or equivalent in a relevant subject (Software related or Embedded Systems) 9+ years experience working on or around embedded systems Excellent C/C++ skills (mostly C to be honest) Some experience writing in assembler A good understanding of RTOS and/or Linux Experience of full software product lifecycle Other Skills You May Have That Are Not Essential Experience developing for ARM Cortex-A and Cortex-M processors Experience with SHARC DSP processors Experience with Automotive Audio BUS (A2B) Experience with communication stacks (TCP/IP, AVB, Bluetooth) A mutual respect for software requirements and process An understanding of modern hardware and software security concepts (Secure boot, OPTEE etc) Great documentation skills and an unnatural love of high quality documentation Handy with Powerpoint, digital media creation, video editing An understanding of Digital signal processing and the algorithms used Strong scripting skills in bash or Python Experience writing web apps in Javascript/Typescript Experience developing plugins for VSCode All the usual project infrastructure stuff: JIRA, Confluence, JAMA, Github, Bitbucket, Jenkins #LI-CO1 For positions requiring access to technical data, Analog Devices, Inc. may have to obtain export licensing approval from the U.S. Department of Commerce - Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the U.S. Department of State - Directorate of Defense Trade Controls.
