Shawu was one of the largest of the Magnificent Seven Bull Elephants who lived in the Kruger National Park in South Africa. His shoulder height was 340 cm (134 in) and his left tusk was 317cm (125 in) long. Shawu died in October 1982 of natural causes when he was around 60 years old.
